Univera Serve First Tacoma 5K Provides Over 100,000 Meals

5k

223 participants plus their supporters met at the starting lines in the morning hours of May 14 to Live Young with Purpose! The Univera Serve First Tacoma 5k at Point Defiance Park was a resounding success, with a participation rate that grew 42% from last year, the support of 37 dedicated Associate volunteers, and the planning of Diamond Suzan Zeiger and her team.

The end result was enough proceeds to provide 106,411 meals through a Univera Serve First donation to FISH Food Banks of Pierce County.

Participants not only enjoyed the lovely scenery and healthy activity, they had the opportunity to meet Miss Washington and have their picture taken with Rhubarb the Reindeer.  Medals were given to participants in various categories, including a Most Improved recognition to Terry Armbrust who walked the race last year. Since then, he has lost 55 lbs with the help of Univera products and cut 14 minutes off his time by running instead of walking this year. All of this while competing in the Over 60 category!

Suzan would like to express her appreciation to all who participated in the run, volunteered, and otherwise supported the success of this event.
