Random Acts of Kindness Day

Kindness is defined as the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate. Thoughtfulness, gentleness, warmth, and compassion are words that are associated with kindness. Today we want you to celebrate kindness and compassion. Here are a few things you can do.

1. Compliment Someone

Find opportunities to give compliments. It costs nothing, takes no time, and could make someone’s entire day.

2. Offer to Pay for Someone

Waiting in line at your favorite place? Try paying for the person behind you or ask a coworker if they would like anything when you get something for yourself. You never know who might need the help and this small gesture can turn someone’s day around.

3. Pick Up Litter

Today more than ever our planet needs our help. If you see trash on the sidewalk, pick it up and toss it in the bin. Give yourself bonus points if you end up recycling any litter you pick up. This is a great way to help your community and you can possibly inspire someone else passing by to do the same thing.

4. Be a Considerate Driver

The next time you see someone with their blinker on, slow down and let them get in front of you. It’s such a small gesture yet it’s an act of kindness that can affect many drivers on the road by preventing traffic or an accident.

5. Be Courteous to Your Server

Greet them with a friendly smile. Try to respect their time and don’t make a mess. Go out of your way to clean up after yourself and thank them for their service. A generous tip can make someone’s day.

6. Make a Donation

Donations are always appreciated and there are many places that accept donations that truly help those in need. Ask a friend, a local homeless shelter or school if they know of any local places that need the help. Only donate items that are in good condition and remember to pick charities you trust.
